

She was born on January 6, 1924, in Denver Colorado. After high school, Mary
moved to Washington State where she went to work at the Hanford Nuclear Site.
She then moved to Seattle where she worked as a beautician. It was there, while
riding on a ferry, she met her husband of 47 years, Navy Ensign Robert E. Gilmore. After their marriage on June 26, 1944 in Vancouver, Washington they moved to the Nile Valley.
Mary graduated from CWU and became a primary school teacher in
the Yakima School District. She retired in 1991. She was a proud member of the
Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and served as a deacon at
the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sons, Bob Gilmore and wife Janie, Dick Gilmore and wife Angie, Jeff Gilmore, all of Yakima, Brad Gilmore of Vancouver, Washington; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Gilmore, who passed in 1991, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would be pleased if remembrances of Mary (who was a cancer survivor) be made in a donation to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank Crescent Health Care for their kind and loving care in the last stage of her life.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23rd at West Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
