Paul was born on June 11th, 1920 in Los Angeles, California as an only child to Clem and Francis Dressel. He was raised in Yakima and graduated from North Yakima High School in 1939. On February 18th, 1941 Paul married the love of his life Maragret Mae (Dodge) Dressel. They had two children and settled in Yakima. He began Paul Dressel Roofing in 1950, later passing on the business to his son and retiring in 1986.
Paul lived his life for the Lord, therefore he and Maragret were active members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They were baptized together into the church in 1945. Together they did many years of missionary work in Belize. Paul was also an instrumental part of obtaining the land where the 35th Avenue church is located. Throughout many years he maintained the grounds; along with many other contributions to the church, he enjoyed helping in the food bank. In that time he touched many lives and began a religious literature ministry that still operates today.
His life was incredible and full. He enjoyed many things and his talents were endless. Into his 90’s he was a Master Gardener, orchardist, and sports fisherman, even ice fishing. He and Margaret were avid scuba divers throughout Mexico, where he found his talent for underwater photography and shell collecting. Later in life he discovered his love for watercolor painting. Most importantly he was a family man and they were his greatest blessings. His outlook on life was kind, quiet and optimistic. His family will deeply miss that presence.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his son Paul Dressel Jr. and a grandson.
He leaves behind his daughter Linda (Wayne) Mollett, daughter in law Sharon Farmer-Dressel, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Paul was especially close to his granddaughters Christina Hill and Shey Dressel and they brought him great joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 507 N. 35th Avenue on November 9th, 2019 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Yakima Adventist Christian School.
