Pete was born on May 31, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, to father Martin Velasco and mother Connie (Gutierrez) Velasco.
Pete grew up in Yakima, Washington with a large, loving family with 2 older sisters (Alejandra and Gabriela), 1 younger brother (Jesse), and 2 nephews (Phillip and Joey). Pete graduated from Eisenhower H.S. Class of '97 and continued his education for instrumentation thru Perry Technical Institute. Pete worked for Amada America as an Automation Technician.
Pete always made you feel welcome. No matter where or who you were with. Pete always made you feel safe. He was a protector. Pete was the funniest man most of us knew. No matter what we were doing there would always be laughter. He was friends with everyone. He was a loving and caring teddy bear. He would give the biggest and warmest bear hugs. He was the best. He was always there for you. He was known to some as the "best carpool buddy." Some will remember him from when he first shaved his head and was lovingly referred to as Uncle Fester . Some would describe Pete to "have a rough exterior with a Heart of Gold." He Loved his classic Toyota's. He intermingled with everyone. Its beautiful to know that so many people have Pete in common. So many people saw Pete as a brother, a son, a father, and a best friend. In many ways he was an anchor for our family. He was a foster parent, a volunteer, an advocate for social justice. He loved fishing, traveling, and adventures with his family.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Peytin, his parents Martin, Connie Velasco, his brother, sisters, nephews, and grandma (Clarita).
