Pete was born November 30, 1933 in Linton, North Dakota to Kasemer and Anna (Geier) Junt. Pete lived in Yakima for 74 years. On September 13, 1952, he married Gladys Wolf at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish, WA.
Pete became a member of the Carpenter Union Local 770 during the construction of the dams on the Columbia River in the early sixties. He worked as a carpenter foreman on many of Yakima’s commercial projects, including Apple Valley School, Albertsons, and Lady of Lourdes Church in Selah. He worked as a finish carpenter on several phases of construction on Memorial Hospital before his retirement on November 22, 1995. He took great pride in his work and had an excellent eye for detail long after his days of a carpenter!
Pete will be forever missed by so many for his friendly bantering, great sense of humor and love of family. He was happiest when all of his children and grandchildren were together and sharing good times. He loved dancing, polka music, and occasionally playing the accordion. He was one of the hardest working, intelligent men the Yakima community will know. He was a humble man that never wanted attention brought to himself. We will miss you Husband/Dad/Grandpa!
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Carl Jundt, Tony Jundt, Larry Junt, Johnny Junt, and Paul Junt, and sisters, Barbara Bossert and Margaret Sybouts.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys (Wolf) Junt; his four children, Debbie (Jerry) Baldoz, Dan (Denise) Junt, Deanna (Chris) Daniels all of Yakima, and Don (Thea) Junt of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jessica Junt, Geoff (Cierra) Junt, Corinne (Nate) Winterfeld, Brendon Daniels, and Andrea Daniels; and five great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Mackenzie, Audrey, Lincoln, and Trevor on the way.
