Sept. 15th, 1926 – Aug. 1st, 2016
A Very Honest, Hardworking, Trustworthy, Generous Man.
Richard started life in Plattsmouth, Nebraska but at a very young age moved to Naches with his family working from the time he was a young fellow. Before he was of age, he joined the U. S. Navy and served on the “USS Steamer Bay (CVE 87) “aircraft carrier in the Pacific during the 2nd World War.
During a leave from the service he married Cicely Pyrl Blevins in 1945; they had 2 daughters Penney L. Bachmann & Pattey Sue Burry. After returning from the service the family lived in Naches where Dick worked in the hardware shop. In 1950 they moved to Yakima.
Dad was never without an income driving delivery truck, moved mobile homes, delivered cars, & was a member of the Yakima Police Dept. for 18 years where he became friends with his fellow officers, going to picnics, dances and always watching out for his family and friends. Dad loved to play ping pong, go boating and fishing. Many summer holidays and weekends were spent water skiing and fishing with family and friends both on the lakes and at the ocean salmon fishing and clamming. In later years when Pattey & John were exploring the oceans, Dick & Tish would join them in the adventures, and later visited Missouri many times to lend a hand with the running of the resort Pattey & John had purchased.
Penney and her husband David Ray Bachmann had 2 girls; Jackie Quincy and Jana Clark both the apple of Dad’s eye!! Dad actually agreed to build a swimming pool just so the girls would come swimming, spending all day at the house. He bought them both cars when they were old enough to drive and watched them grow into wonderful women. He was a very positive and loving influence on the granddaughters as they grew up. Then there came 2 great grandsons, Riley Quincy and Matthew Quincy. Dad and mom were ecstatic at the addition to the family and baby sat, playing, swimming and enjoying endless baseball, football, and basketball games!! Dad would never miss a game even as he aged and when it became difficult for him to climb stairs the boys made sure he had a front row seat.
He is pain free and that makes us happy. We Love Him and will miss his smile and his blue eyes shining.
He is survived by his loving wife Cicely (Tish) of 71 years; Penney & David Bachmann; Pattey & John Burry; Jackie, Rob, Riley & Matthew Quincy; Jana & Michael Clark; Jean Andres his only surviving sister, & many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., August 20th, at the Quincy residence, 280 Mapleway Road, Selah. To share a memory of Richard, please visit www.keithandkeith.com.
