Richard Gordon Schuster went to join his ancestors on June 16, 2017. Richard was born Friday, August 13, 1937 in Holmwood Township, Jewell County, Kansas. He was the second of five children born to Clare Howard Schuster and Zelda June Broyles. Richard was raised on the family farm and attended local schools graduating from Superior High School in 1955. On August 24, 1959 Richard and Norma Jean McMillan were united in marriage at Mankato, Kansas. They were the parents of four children: Sue Elaine, David Richard, Clarence LeRoy and Randall Eugene. On August 30, 1990, Richard and Judy Lynn Jones were united in marriage at Twin Falls, Idaho. Richard came to the Yakima Valley in 1960 and worked for over 20 years for the FAA based out of the Yakima Airport.
For the last 27 years he has lived in the Wenas Valley. A farmer at heart, he loved growing things in his garden and sharing the proceeds with family and friends. He was an avid bowler rolling two 300 games in his lifetime. He continued to bowl on several Senior leagues up until last October. Over the years he and Judy spent time traveling on his Goldwing motorcycle and in their motor home. He spent many hours helping Judy track down both of their family histories, taking many pictures, and visiting graveyards without complaint. He will be sincerely missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Robert in 1967. Richard is survived by his wife Judy; sons Randy (Tracie) Schuster, Yakima and David (Karrie) Schuster, Lake Stevens; daughter Sue Johnson, Idaho; step-daughters Shawna (Randy) Frank, Yakima; and Terrina Sanders, Naches; 6 grandchildren: Charli (Ken) Keifer; Brittney (George) Sanchez; Kricket (Michael) Seehaas; David; Tyler; and Jaclyn Schuster; 8 step-grandchildren: Christie (Mi1car) Lorenzono; Dee Dee Esqueada; Dani (Gordon) Basa; Miranda (Matt) Newport; Tysha (Will) Gunderson; Eryn Olson; and Brandon and Noah Sanders; 4 great grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Jean) Schuster, Superior, Nebraska; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Brahmsteadt, York, Nebraska and Twila Cool, Superior, Nebraska.
