October 7, 1926 in Astoria, OR to Virgil C. and Dagne 0.( Johansen) Erskine. He grew up in Seattle.
Bob's life was full of adventure. He joined the Navy during WWII and served in the Philippines. He then
joined the United States Marine Corps and became a Drill Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. On
September 6, 1950 he married the love of his life Maxine M. Brown. They lived in various places
throughout their life together, including San Diego, Seattle area, Alaska, Yakima, Hawaii, Las Vegas and
Spokane. One of his favorite places was Alaska, where he was an Alaska Territory Trooper in charge of
the entire North Slope. When Alaska became a state, he was made a State Trooper. Upon leaving
Alaska he and his family returned to Washington State. Here in Yakima he became a very successful
Farmers Insurance Agent. One of his proudest accomplishments was the instrumental work in
coordinating the transport of an Iraqi tank captured by the Bravo Company, to the Bravo Company site
here in Yakima.
He had a great love for his family, hunting, fishing, camping and the Seattle Sea hawks, even to the point
of having a Seahawk truck you can still see driving around Yakima today. He was also an avid
Republican, to the point of being called "Mr. Republican"!
