

Roberto Trevino Sr. passed away February 16, 2023 at age 80 surrounded by his loving family. His family were farm workers who migrated from Texas. He graduated from Granger High School. While attending University of Washington he was recruited by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez to work for five dollars a week. Also joining the movement were his brother Carlos Trevino and colleagues. They organized support for farm workers among labor, church, political, legislative, education and consumer groups. This helped get the tone in WA to include farmworkers in the state minimum wage act, Agricultural Minor Work Act, Farm Labor Contractor Act and better health and safety enforcement of regulations. With the message of SI SE PUEDE and HULEGA, HUELGA followers joined in the boycott movement throughout hop and apple fields of the Yakima Valley.
In 1975, he organized workers in Ventura County, CA successful helped unionize the biggest contract for UFW at Julius Goldman Egg City Ranch. Lobby and direct legislative information campaigns for WA, Oregon and Idaho State legislatures on issues affecting farmworkers. After volunteering for UFW-AFLCIO for 11 yrs he operated grape farm for 11 yrs and enjoyed spending time with his family and discussing politics and sports with his brother Carlos and sons.
Roberto was proceeded in death by his parents Jesus and Matilde Trevino and son Roberto Trevino Jr.
He is survived by his wife Donna Trevino of Yakima, sons Jesus Trevino (Ida Garza) of Kent, Julian Trevino of Yakima, daughters Patricia Trevino of Yakima, Krystal (David) Turcotte of Pasco, Grandchildren Veronica Trevino, Anhelica Trevino- Saldana and Lennox Trevino Borrego, Kaden and Jackson Turcotte, Great grandson Ernesto Wyatt Lombardi - Trevino.
