Ronald “ George” Lawson, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 3, 2017 at his home in Yakima, WA. He was born in Wallace, ID to Clarence and Esther (Butts) Lawson. He spent his youth mainly in Northern Montana where he worked on a cattle ranch and learned to break horses. He joined the Marines at the very young age of sixteen and served for four years. He met the love of his life, Donna, and they were married on March 5, 1971 at the Hitchin’ Post in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
He was a member of the Teamster’s Local 54, a roofer and crane operator by trade, he worked for more than 40 years for Pacific Rainier Roofing of Seattle, WA, before retiring. He was caring with a quick wit, he had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to pull a fast one if he thought he could, but loyal and true above all else, his family and friends were most important to him. He was a fan of NASCAR, loved music of all kinds and enjoyed woodworking; making birdhouses, outdoor furniture, planters and wind chimes for family and friends. His true passion was fishing mainly catch and release, “a day on the lake, a man in his boat, thigh high in the river or on the shore, that’s a good day.” He shared his love and knowledge of fishing with any who wanted to learn and enjoyed watching as they learned to love the sport of fishing too.
George is survived by his loving wife Donna of 46 years, son David (Gail) Carter, daughter Denise (Steve) Schab, grandson Brice (Ruby)Carter, granddaughter Holly (Eric) Sims, great grandsons Gavin and Logan Rodgers, two brothers, Robert and Russell Lawson and a sister, Vicki Dorais. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Ann and Ruthie.
It is with heartfelt sadness that we say goodbye to such a loving and wonderful, husband, father, poppa, pops, brother, uncle and friend, we love you and will miss you greatly.
Per his request the will be no service and in lieu of flowers please make a donation to a children’s cancer charity of your choice, c/o Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
