Ronald William Saxton

An old cowboy passed away this week. Ron Saxton passed away March 5, 2018 at Fieldstone Community due to an ongoing health condition. He was born March 15, 1935 in Akron, Colorado to Roscoe and Alberta Saxton.

Ron worked for the Yakima County Highway Department for many years, then went into the insurance business. While selling insurance he won salesman of the year for Reserve Life Insurance Company and became friends with Mickey Mantle, who was the spokesman for Reserve Life. Ron loved working with horses breaking and shoeing, it was his life-long passion.

He was part of a large loving family; he had 7 siblings. He was very proud of his 5 children, Linda, Kirk, Carey, Rondi and Dawn. Ron also had 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 10th at Fieldstone Orchard West, 4130 Englewood Avenue in Yakima at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cascadia Assistance Fund at 506 N. 40th Ave., Suite 100, Yakima, Wa. 98908.
