Ruby was born February 19, 1923 to David Tabor and Cassie Estes Tabor on the family farm near Pyatt,
Arkansas and lived there until she married Willis Moore in the spring of 1939.
When Willis entered WWII, he moved her and the children to a farm near Neosho, Missouri.
They moved to Yakima permanently in 1953. Willis did construction and Ruby was a homemaker.
She always cooked extra because Willis often brought members of his crew home. They also entertained many friends and
family.
You always knew that after "Hello" came "Have you eaten?" and the food was plentiful and
memorable. Everyone loved her southern fried chicken and biscuits and gravy.
Adults and children frequently received hand-made gifts because Ruby was a fine seamstress and also,
could knit and crochet beautifully. Those gifts will be treasured.
Ruby was a life-long Christian and an active long-time member of First Baptist Church of Union Gap. She
helped bring Willis and several other family members and friends to baptism and membership in the
Christian community.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved Willis who died in 2000 after 61 years of marriage. She was
also preceded in death by their three sons: Danny, Tex, and David; and grandsons Brian Hand and Danny
Hand.
She is survived by their daughter, Darleen (Hand) Moore of Yakima; grandchildren Jerry Hand,
Debi Moore Matier, Ruthie Moore Manier, Lonnie Moore, Rhonda Beecroft, Hallie George, and Christina
Stubbs; and numerous greats.
We miss her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
