Born June 9, 1960, to Gary Lee Burow and Betty Lou Sonnentag, Valerie grew up in Naches, WA. She attended Naches Schools and graduated from Naches High School in 1978. During that time, she was raised by her foster mom, Mrs. McKey. She was a big influence during Valerie’s teen years.

In 1985 she married the love of her life, Gerardo Blanco. Together, they made a home in Yakima and raised their two children, Alex and Amanda.
Valerie enjoyed spending time with her family on camping trips, going to Ocean Shores and Lincoln City. She loved to crochet, do knitting, or just anything to do with arts & crafts. And of course, she loved Butterflies.
