Wanda Lee Weeks

Wanda Weeks, 89 of Pasco, Washington, passed away peacefully on, June 13th, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born on October 29th, 1934, to George and Wanetta Hand in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She spent her early childhood in Cheyenne before moving to Yakima with her family. Wanda attended Selah schools until her Senior year, when she moved to Wapato and graduated from Wapato High in 1952. While attending Selah schools, she was involved in many different clubs. She was in the Chorus, Tumbling club, Debate club & Pep band where she played the drums. She met the love of her life Ernest Weeks at Skateland in Union Gap in 1951 and they were married the following year on January 27th, 1952.

Ernest & Wanda lived in Yakima, WA from 1952-1959 where they welcomed their 3 sons, Ernest (Allen), Mitch and Rick. During this time, she enjoyed working at the Donut Shop and the Yakima Country Club.

In 1959, they moved to Selah, WA. where they raised their family and welcomed their 4th child, Renea. Wanda was a hard worker. She packed apples for several different fruit companies, while raising their four children. She then went to work as a bookkeeper for Genuine Auto Parts for several years. When she retired from Genuine Auto Parts, she moved to Mattawa with her husband Ernest to help their oldest son Ernie, establish a new branch of the Wilber Ellis Company.

Wanda and Ernest were members of the Gateswingers square dance club for many years where they made several friends and gave lessons at their home in Selah. Her most treasured moments were spending time with her family. She rarely missed a chance to watch her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. She also enjoyed sharing her love of baking, playing cards & board games whenever she could and loved attending our many family gatherings. She hosted all of our family dinners and would make sure to bake fresh pies or cookies if she knew you were coming over. She also enjoyed walking her dog, Delilah daily.

She was preceded in death by her newborn brother Jimmy, her parents George and Wanetta, her oldest son Ernie (Allen), her brother Bill Hand and wife Judy, her loving husband Ernest Weeks, as well as her brother-in-law Bob Grunden.

She leaves behind her sons Mitch & wife Johannah, Rick & wife Reena and her daughter Renea Hanshew & husband Marty. She also leaves behind her 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, her sisters Mary Grunden, Sarah Bennett & husband Mike, her in law’s Everett Weeks, Dick Weeks & wife Mary, Bob Weeks & wife Kay, also numerous nieces & nephews.

Wanda was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend that will be greatly missed by all!

A visitation for Wanda will be held Thursday June 27th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima WA 98902. The funeral service will be held at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr. Yakima, WA 98901 on Friday June 28th at 11:00 AM.
