Bill graduated from Othello High School in 1965. After high school, he joined the Navy, retiring after 30 years as Command Master Chief. He was proud to serve his country & proud of our Nation’s troops. While in the Navy he married Kathy Jones and they had 2 children, William & Sherry. He married Carolyn Nelson in 1993 and he became a father to her 3 children, Russ, Carissa, & Amy. Bill was a loving father to all of his children & grandchildren.
Bill had a passion for flying, which he developed in the Navy during his career as radioman and flight engineer, eventually rising to the rank of Command Master Chief. His love of electronics and engineering followed him after retirement where he worked as a Systems Engineer for Telewaves Communications, designing, building and repairing equipment. He loved it when this took him to the mountains.
Bill & Carolyn enjoyed spending their summers at Pacific Beach and camping at many Washington & Oregon state parks. They were fortunate to have the opportunity to vacation to several other places including New York and Alaska.
Bill will be remembered for his many hobbies and as “Mr. Bill” where he was a regular helper in his wife’s classroom and around John Campbell Elementary. He also played “Santa” for several school holiday programs. His Grandchildren remember him as being giving, caring, doing projects with them, and “knowing a lot of facts”.
