

Brunswick - Albert E. Cook, 83, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2010. He was born on August 30, 1927, to George and Jesse Cook of Yarmouth, Maine. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corp., Albert graduated from North Yarmouth Academy in 1947. He continued his education and received his degree from the Northeast School of Business and attended classes in banking management at Williams College.
Colleen C. Wyman became his bride on April 25, 1948. They made their home in Yarmouth. Albert held various roles at Canal National Bank including regional vice president in the Yarmouth and later in the Saco office. He ended his career as vice president at Oxford Bank and Trust.
In 1988, he retired with his wife to West Point, Maine. In retirement Albert continued his love of gardening and woodworking. He could be seen spending countless hours tending his vegetable and flower gardens that people would appreciate as they walked by. Albert loved talking to people and immediately made them feel like friends. He especially loved to tell stories and he had an infectious sense of humor.
Family celebrations were always a highlight for Albert as he so enjoyed his family coming together. His love embraced his family and close friends. Christmas was a favorite holiday for all it meant to his faith as well as a celebration of love for others.
Albert’s faith in God impacted his life profoundly. He was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church of Cumberland. He was a deacon and treasurer for the Bible Baptist Church of Saco for many years and recently was a dedicated member of the Small Point Baptist Church also serving as deacon and treasurer.
Albert volunteered his time over the years as a member of a variety of organizations. The Lions’ Club, Rotary Club, The Salvation Army, and The United Way all benefited from Albert’s commitment to making this world a better place. He was also a trustee of the Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Jesse Soule Cook; his sister, Katherine Roderick; his daughter, Theresa W. Beal; and his grandson, Matthew J. Cook. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Colleen of Brunswick; daughters, Christine Peterson and husband, Tom, of Brunswick; Constance Mott and husband, Russell, of Brunswick; Rochelle Petersen and husband, Mark, of Falmouth; Phillis Burcham and husband, Cary, of Land O’ Lakes, FL; Andrea Noble and husband, Renn, of Kennebunk; Adrianne Cook of Billerica, MA; and a son, Albert E. Cook, Jr. and wife, Charlotte, of White House Station, NJ; fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday December 18, 2010 at Riverside Cemetery Yarmouth.
A memorial service celebrating Albert’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Small Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Coffin officiating.
