

David was born on December 12, 1946, in Portland, Maine, the son of Gordon and Janet Barbour Haskell. He graduated from Scarborough High School in 1964 and attended Maine Maritime Academy. He married Barbara Robey on December 27, 1965, and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. David was employed by IBM in Waltham, MA and at the Prudential Center, Boston, for 8 years. In his first year, he was awarded the company’s highest honor at that time, the Mean Service Award. He was self-employed as a marine mechanic for many years. Dave had his own heating business for 15 years in the Wiscasset area; worked at Yarmouth Boatyard, Yarmouth, and as parts manager/marine mechanic at Brewer’s Boatyard in South Freeport for 9 years. He spent 5 years at Ace Hardware, Yarmouth, retiring in 2014.
David is survived by his wife Barbara and three children--Michael of Lincoln ME; Timothy of Bath ME; and Christopher of Augusta ME—six grandchildren—Molly, Makayla, Natasha, Austin, David, and Andrew—one great-grandson, Raiden; and a sister, Kathryn Whittier of North Yarmouth ME. He was predeceased by his parents.
Dave will be fondly remembered for his humorous outlook on life and his boundless energy as well as for creating wooden jigsaw puzzles of boats and other Maine scenes and for his prize-winning garlic.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
