Edward was born in Melrose, MA on October 2, 1935, a son of Edward and Ethel (Ringer) Zink Sr. Edward was a graduate of Melrose High School in 1953, Tufts University with a degree in Chemistry in 1957 and attended Texas A & M. On June 27th, 1959 he married Roena Stine, the love of his life, at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas. Edward was a decorated Air Force officer and retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel. Edward worked for many years in the petrochemical world. He was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. In his “retirement” years he worked for the United States Postal Service and as a notary public. Lt. Col. Zink was a member of the Amvets Post 2 in Yarmouth. He volunteered for years with Vet-to-Vet Maine, helping other veterans. Edward also volunteered for over ten years in the Money Minders Program at the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. In his down time, Edward enjoyed music, traveling, gardening, coin collecting, playing bridge, watching Fox News and listening to Howie Carr. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, enjoying cookouts and lobster.
Edward is survived by his wife of 61 years Roena, his son Edward A. Zink III and partner Tina Bourgeois of Manchester, NH, his daughter Maria Murray and husband Mike of Southbridge, MA, his daughter Joanna Tarrazi and husband George of Abbot, ME and his daughter-in- law Connie Zink of Harrisville, NY, two sisters Joyce Mahan of Hyannis, MA and Barbara Whitman and husband William of Green Valley, AZ, as well as many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Letha (Ronnie) Fields, Teresa (Lowell) Fields, and brothers-in-law Elra Stine and John (Tracy) Stine all of Mooreland, Oklahoma.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, his loving son Bryan C. Zink and brother-in-law John Mahan.
There will be visiting hours on Friday, June 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth, ME, and A Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yarmouth, ME. A private family burial will be held.
