Freeport - Jeffrey A. Randall, 46, died June 3, 2015 unexpectedly. He was born August 23, 1968, son of Raymond L. Randall of Freeport and Donna B. Jordan of Lisbon.
Jeff attended Pownal and Freeport schools and graduated from Freeport in 1986. He started working at a young age as a farm hand at a local farm, which lead to employment braiding rope at Yale Cordage. He worked at J.J. Nissen Bakery in Portland from 1988 - 2000 as a Nightshift Foreman and was awarded Employee of Year in 1994. In 2000 he went to work for Synagro, a residual management company as a Field Manager overseeing various operations throughout the U.S. and Canada. He served in this capacity until the time of his death. Jeff received a Safety Award in Providence, RI in 2014, which was reflective of his years of hard work, and his concern for his fellow employees.
Jeff loved agriculture, specifically the Maine Beef Industry. He sat on the Board of Directors for the Maine Beef Producers Association (MBPA) from 1997-2003, culminating in a term as Vice President. He sat on the Board of Directors for the Maine Beef Industry Council (MBIC) from 1999-2014 and served as Vice Chair since 2001. He was involved with the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Association overseeing hiring and important decisions from 2000 to 2002. In 2004 he received the James L. Worthley Service Award from the MBPA due to his tireless devotion to feeder calf sales.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Laura L. (Wheeler) Randall, daughters Kati, Emily and Ally, all of which attend Freeport schools. His father Raymond Randall; mother Donna Jordan; brothers Scott, Donald, and Michael (wife Nancy); sisters Kelly (husband Dean Wilson), Dawn Marie (husband Adam Stoddard), many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will miss him deeply.
He was extremely proud of his three daughters and their passion and love for dance. He enjoyed attending their dance recitals and competitions. He was also proud of their continued devotion to their family tradition of farming.
He was a hard working family man with a love of beef cattle and being in the hay fields with his family. He loved to make people laugh by reminiscing, telling stories and enjoying the resulting laughs with friends and family. He was a talented jack of all trades who was always eager to lend a hand, or equipment, which endeared him to everyone.
A graveside service will be held on Friday June 19 at 2:00 pm at the Pownal Cemetery, 590 Elmwood Road, across from the Pownal Elementary School. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at the Randall residence at 55 Litchfield Road, Freeport.
