Judy was the daughter of the late Philip Dana Jr. and Florence Skillings Dana Clough. She was born in Waterville, Maine, and grew up in the Woodfords neighborhood of Portland with her three siblings. She graduated from Waynflete in 1959 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine.
Judy lived for many years in Yarmouth and spent her summers at Sebasco Resort, where she raised her family with her former husband, Gerry Parker. She had many interests and pursued them all with great passion, especially playing the cello with the symphony, and her dedication to historic preservation through her work with the Yarmouth Village Improvement Society and Greater Portland Landmarks.
Judy had a gift for creating beauty in everyday life. This talent found expression in Tavecchia, the boutique she owned and operated for 32 years on Exchange Street in the Old Port. Tavecchia was known for its style and elegance—qualities that reflected Judy herself, inside and out. She also loved cooking gourmet meals for family and friends, bringing them together around her table. Later in life, she found joy in painting, where her artistic talents continued to shine.
She was known for her radiant smile, gracious manner, and warmth toward everyone she met. A loving mother to the very end, she leaves behind family and friends who will deeply miss her and cherish her memory always.
She is survived by her three children: Mary Elizabeth (“Litty”) Parker and her husband Martin Heaberlin of Phippsburg, Maine; Philip Dana Parker and his wife Jeanette of Seattle, Washington; and Julia Gage Parker and her husband Daniel Davis of Medford, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her sister, Sheridan Robbins, and is survived by Sheridan’s husband Ralph Robbins, and her siblings, Virginia Windmuller (Rudy) and Stephen Dana (Dorothy).
Judy is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Benjamin Heaberlin and Mallory Heaberlin (Josip Luksic); Dana, Grace, and Matthew Parker; and Maxwell Davis; as well as her great-grandson, Otavijo (“Tavi”) Luksic and her large extended family.
Judy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the exceptional staff at Heron House for their tender care, deep compassion, and unwavering kindness during her time there. We are also deeply grateful to the Affinity Hospice caregivers and volunteers for the comfort and support they provided. A special appreciation to our friend Kimberly Hobbs, who brought many smiles and laughter to our beloved mother.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer at Sebasco Harbort Resort.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to Greater Portland Landmarks or Dress for Success.
