

Yarmouth - Marion Mason Miles, 90, of Yarmouth, ME died peacefully on December 21, 2012 at her home in Bartlett Circle with family members by her side. She along with her husband William E. Miles, Sr. were the first residents of this Senior Complex. She has resided there for 36 years. She was born on June 22, 1922 in Enfield, ME to Georgie Round and George Mason.
Before her marriage, she worked as a welder and instructor during World War II on the Liberty Ships at Bath Iron Works and the South Portland Shipyard along with many other women who were called to duty at that time. She also was a board member and secretary of her husband's business William E. Miles Plumbing & Heating for many, many years. She was President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Maine State Plumbers Association from l962 to 1963.
Marion enjoyed many friendships over the years at Bartlett Circle, traveling, eating out and playing cards. She and her husband Bill traveled all over the United States and Europe. Marion and Bill enjoyed winters in Zephyrhills, FL, skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain where they owned a chalet and their hunting camp in Howland. In summer, they entertained family and friends at their camp on Thomas Pond in Raymond.
She is survived by her sisters: Madeline Sargent of Valrico, FL and Charlotte Fish of Greenbush, ME. She is also survived by her children: George and wife Joan of Edinburg, ME, Sandra Miles Grondin of Yarmouth, ME, Bruce and wife Kathleen of Carrabasset Valley, ME, Janice and husband Richard Piston of Fort Pierce, FL and Robert and wife Jane of Yarmouth, ME. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren (with 1 on the way). She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband William E. Miles, Sr., her son William E. Miles, Jr., and his wife, Mina Miles. her daughter Judy Drew Leeman, her sister Dorothy Kerr, brother Robert Mason, her grandson Jeffrey Piston and her great-grandson David Bartlett.

A time for friends and relatives to gather to celebrate her life will be held at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME Jan 5 from 2 to 4 with a program of informal remembrances at 3.
