

She was born on Sept. 9, 1932, in Newton, Mass. Her parents were Charles Herbert Richardson and Annie Elizabeth Mayo Richardson, and a brother, Henry Haskell Richardson.
Her first marriage was to Alan M. Rand I, in Dorchester, Mass. on Sept. 16, 1952. She parted ways with Alan and married King W. Carter, Jr., in 1973 in Yarmouth.
Marjorie attended Girls Latin School in Boston, Mass. After her mother died, they relocated to Portland, Maine and graduated from Portland High School. She attended Boston University but had to withdraw due scholarship money redacted because of engagement announcement. She returned to school and graduated in 1975 from University of Maine Portland-Gorham.
She worked as a travel agent for Gulf Oil, Reid State Park Snack Bar, Town and Country Kitchen and Sears. She worked as a teacher for the Yarmouth School Department until her retirement and then for the Yarmouth Visitors Center.
As a child her favorite place was Camp Andover. She connected with camp friends for many years. She loved to travel with her husband, having different adventures, camping, river rafting, and enjoying the sights. A talented seamstress, she made many clothes, her daughter’s wedding dress, and taught her niece, JoAnne, how to sew.
She volunteered for the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She sewed hundreds of dolls for the children at Maine Medical Center.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Henry; husband, King W. Carter, Jr.; stepdaughter, Diane Kay.
Survived by her children, David Rand (Sharon), Carol Fraser (Joseph), Alan Rand II, James Rand (Shawna), her stepchildren Michael Carter (Teri), Lesley Davison (Peter), William Carter (Lisa), and son-in-law, Stuart Kay; grandchildren, Jennifer Rand, Melissa Fraser (Max), Sean Fraser and Shaymus Rand; step-grandchildren, Micheal Carter, Jr., William Kay, Stephen Kay (Jillian), Ashley Davison, Sarah Davison, and Matthew Davison, Shauna Lynn (Justin), Kevin Carter (Brianna); nine great-grandchildren.
The family invites you to a time of visitation Friday March 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. and funeral service on March 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
