She was born Mary Ellen Daggett on July 23, 1939. She and her loving husband steadfastly committed their years to loving one another and guiding their children through the challenging waters of life. With loving kindness Mary Ellen lived each day seeking to honor her Lord and serve her family well. She opened her home and her compassionate heart to anyone in whom she recognized a need. All who knew her will remember her genuine smile and sincere sweetness.
She will be greatly missed by her dedicated husband of 55 years, Freeman G. Cleaves, Jr., and a bouquet of beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including 4 daughters: Annette Sorensen, and her husband Peter; Kathleen Horgan, and her husband David; Bonnie Shippen, and her husband William; and Christine DeCosta, and her husband Richard. Their daughters further blessed them with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who brought great joy to her latter years.
Although we grieve our losses and ache for the abundant love which she so willingly shared with us until the very end, we are comforted in our knowledge of the peace and rest which she now enjoys in the presence of the Lord.
