
Yarmouth - H. Winfield (“Win” or “Windy”) Perkins, 86, of Yarmouth and most recently Falmouth Maine, died on June 7, 2014 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House peacefully and surrounded by family.
He was born in Bangor on May 28, 1928, the son of Herbert William and Marion Marsh Perkins.
Win was a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono. It was there that he met his wife of 52 years, Winnifred Frances Hilton Perkins of Bridgton.
Win worked (with his dad) as Vice President of the Perkins Paper Corp. in NYC for many years. Missing his beloved Maine, he returned in 1970 and worked with the C. M. Bowker Insurance Agency. Later he became the owner of the LaFountain-Gilpatrick Insurance Agency in Old Orchard Beach. He lived for 30 years in Yarmouth before moving to a retirement community in Falmouth.
His great loves were his family, his friends, his pets, golf, tennis, hunting and snowmobiling. He also worked for many years supporting the Special Olympics of Maine.
Besides his wife Winnifred, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Anne Banks. He is survived by a daughter, Laurel Perkins of W. Boylston, MA and a son, William Perkins of Brunswick, ME. He has five grandchildren: The Rev. Lissa Gundlach, Kevin Gundlach, Christen Gundlach, Cody Perkins and Sean Perkins. He is also survived by a brother Richard M. Perkins of Portland.
