

Curtis Edward Waite, a longtime Yonkers Resident died on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the age of sixty five. He was born on December 30, 1945 to Curtis H. and Evelyn F. (Bosley) Waite in Harlem, New York. He attended Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, Ct. and graduated in 1963. Mr. Waite was a Communications Technician at WorldCom (formerly RCA), New York, N.Y. from 1969 to 2003 when he retired. He was a member of Teamsters Local 110 in New York, N.Y. from 1969 to 2003. Mr. Waite served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1972 and achieved the rank of SP5. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Sharp Shooter, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Waite was an avid music lover. He married his loving wife Jane K. Gibbs and their union has lasted forty-five years. Mrs. Waite survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Nicole K. Waite, Kara A. White and Curtis Todd Waite, two grandchildren Cydiq and Jacob, and his siblings Phyllis "Mitzy" Waite, Marsha Long, Lionel Mariette, Michelle Butler and Craig Mariette. he was predeceased by his parents and two siblings Chanel Waite and Carlton Waite. Visiting hours will be at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4360 Rev. Theodore Whittrock Crossing (Boyd and Barnes Avenues), Bronx, New York 10466, 718-324-1288 on Wednesday, June 1st from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Going home service will take place on Thursday, June 2nd at 10:30 a.m. in the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
