It is with regret that we announce the passing of the Hon. Dara Marie Kane. She was 78 years old. She is survived by her son’s Joseph (Kerry), Thomas (Sharry), Brian (Maureen) and Brendan Johnson. Also, her grandchildren James, Elizabeth, Eamon, and Stella. Dara was preceded in passing by her parents James Francis Kane and Elizabeth Kane (nee Lavery). Our mother was born and raised in the Bronx where she attended Saint Philip Neri School, Mother Butler Memorial High School, Fordham University, and New York Law School. She served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx County, the Yonkers Corporation Counsel office, and was appointed as the first female judge on the Yonkers City Court. Wake to be held at Whalen and Ball funeral home Thursday February 5th at 5-9 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church Friday February 6th at 10 A.M. The committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Queens, NY 11377, on February 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
