David J. Roberts

David J. Roberts, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 62 years old. He was born on June 24, 1953 to David J. and Veronica Bybel Roberts in St. Albans, Queens. He was raised and educated in Yonkers, graduating from Gorton High School. He then attended the Engine City Technical School in Union, N.J. Mr. Roberts was a captain in the Yonkers Fire Department where he worked for twenty nine years until his retirement in 2010. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church and enjoyed bowling, playing golf and going to Nascar races. On September 6, 1975, he married his loving wife, Maria Mascolo at St. John the Baptist Church. In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by his three children, Jamie Delango and her husband, Denis, David J. Roberts and his wife, Dana and Kristy Roberts, all of Yonkers. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jenna, Adrianna, Joseph, Alanna and Aubrey. He was predeceased by his parents David J. and Veronica Roberts, his brother, Stephen Roberts and his sister, Sandra Tamas. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 6-9pm and Friday 3-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday March 19th at 11am. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza #1615, New York, N.Y. 10122.
