
Edward A. Frey, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday September 22, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Home in the Bronx. He was 93 years old. He was born on July 24, 1923 to Harold and Frances Podlesney in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Frey was a co-owner of Frey’s Cleaners on Nepperhan Ave. in Yonkers for many years until his retirement in 1985. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Frey was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where he was a member of the choir, the Holy Name Society and the parish council. He was a member and past president of the Exchange Club, a member of the Catholic Widow and Widowers Association of Scarsdale from 1991 to the present and a member of the Romeo Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) of Dobbs Ferry which met at Sam’s Restaurant in Dobbs Ferry every Monday night. He was a Yankee and Giants fan and enjoyed playing golf at Dunwoodie Golf Course which he did until he was 92 years old. On February 3, 1951, he married his loving wife Mary Walsh in Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Frey died in 1988. Survivors include two sons, Edward Frey and his wife Regina Dougherty of Trumbull, CT and James Frey of Yonkers. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Justina Bradshaw and Timothy Frey. He was predeceased by two brothers, Otto and Harold Frey and a sister, Mildred Morse. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 3-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday September 26th at 11am. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory.
