
Frank N. Fugaro, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Sunday July 19, 2015 at his residence. He was 86 years old. He was born on March 22, 1929 to Leonard and Concetta D’Ambrosio Fugaro in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Fugaro was a maintenance man at Hudson View Nursing Home for thirty five years until his retirement in 1995. He also worked as a rink attendant and skating instructor at Murray’s Skating Rink in Yonkers. He was involved in the opening of Murray’s many years ago. Mr. Fugaro served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in 1952. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, vacationing (traveling and cruising) and was an excellent dancer but his passion was roller skating and ice skating. On July 19, 1975, he married his loving wife Maritza Solorzano in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Fugaro survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carolina Carreira and her husband Nelson of Yonkers and Maritza Fugaro-Norton and her husband Michael of Cortlandt Manor and one sister, Madeline DiTommaso of Hyde Park, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Peter and Patsy Fugaro and one sister, Mary Sciarpelletti. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday July 22nd at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
