
.Francis A. Walsh of New Milford, Ct. (formerly of Yonkers and Redington Shores, Florida) died on Tuesday, May, 3, 2016 at age 95. Born on March 8, 1921 to Peter F. and Clara (Quevedo) Walsh in Yonkers where he was raised. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School where he excelled in sports; especially cross country, basketball and baseball and graduated from Gorton High School. Mr. Walsh was a postal employee for over thirty seven years, mostly at Lake Avenue office but retired at the Main Post Office. Frank was a World War II Army veteran, stationed in North Africa and was involved with the Invasion of Italy. On November 24, 1946 he married Virginia Waldron at St. Johns the Baptist Church. Mr. Walsh was a former member of Sacred Heart Parish, 3rd Order of St. Francis; Capuchin Auxiliary, bingo volunteer, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and past president of the parish council. He also was an avid golfer and bowler and mainly a supporter of Notre Dame sports. Besides his wife Virginia, he is survived by his four children; Virginia (Joe) DiMase; Frank “Skip” Walsh, Maureen (Mark) McGowan and Sharon (Jeff) Borland; his seven grandchildren; Thomas Vreeland, Kristie Calderon, Matthew, Stephanie and Caitlin McGowan and Jenna and Chelsea Goldstein-Walsh, and his two great grandchildren; Stephen and Andrew Calderon. He is also survived by his two sisters Clara T. Walsh and Marguerite Holden. He was predeceased by four sisters; Cecelia Fox, Gertrude Coady, Theresa Morganthaler and Marion Patterson and his four brothers; Peter, Joseph (Fr. Casimir, O. F.M., Cap), John and James Walsh. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, May 7th at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.
