Helen H Faigle

Helen Therese was born in Yonkers, NY to John and Ellen Houlihan on 7 August 1927. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High School She promptly enrolled in St. John's Cochran School of Nursing, as, at the time, nursing credentials were a requisite for her dream occupation, a commercial flight attendant. Regrettably, her rather diminutive height and airline requirements put an end to her aspirations. Upon graduation from nursing school, where she was awarded "Best Bedside Manner", She married Roland Faigle of Yonkers, NY on 11 November 1950 and they set about raising a family; Richard, born 3 August 1951 and Lisa, born 10 February 1955. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Church in the Altar Rosary Society and she starred in a number of their amateur theatrical productions. In 1965, Helen returned to nursing, joining the OB/GYN practice of Drs. Jackson and Gomez. In the thirty years she spent as the sole RN in the practice, it grew to include Drs. Berrifatti and Florio. Her best bedside manner served her well. She retired in 1995 and, as a member of the Amackassin Club and Ardsley Country Club, continued to engage in her favorite pastimes, tennis and golf, well into her eighties. She is predeceased by her husband, Roland Herbert and her daughter, Lisa Ellen Spinozzi and her son in law Michael Spinozzi. She is survived by her son, Richard Roland, and daughter in law, Babara Seidler Faigle, her granddaughter, Falon Chamberlin and her husband, Casey, her granddaughter, Isabella Spinozzi and her grandson, Matthew Spinozzi and his wife, Frederika, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004; [email protected] 866.753.5496.
