Joan McInerney

Born October 23, 1936, to Fred and Kathleen Annett in Yonkers. She was a livelong Yonkers resident and attended school at St Mary’s and Blessed Sacrament. She married Daniel McInerney on May 23, 1959, at St Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a loving wife and caring mother to her three children. She was a homemaker during the years before her children attended school and then she started working at School 13 as a Cafeteria Aide. She worked in the Yonkers School system for 40 years. With hard work and determination, she applied for the position of Food service Manager. After passing the exam she was promoted to Manager and handled all aspects of providing nutritious foods for the students at Yonkers Public schools. Due to her expertise and reputation, she was asked to manage more than one school and travelled to different elementary schools.

Joan is survived by her three children: Brian (Carol) McInerney of Port Monmouth, NJ, DJ McIneney of Yonkers, and Kelley McInerney of Yonkers and her nephews and nieces and many cousins who she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel John and her sister Catherine Annett.

Visiting hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, located at 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703, on Sunday October 5, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703, on Monday October 6, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
