
John C. “Jack” Moynihan Sr. of Yonkers died on Monday December 21, 2015 at age 82. He was born on February 8, 1933 to Cornelius F and Catherine (Ronan) Monahan in Yonkers where he was raised and educated and graduated from Gorton H.S. Mr. Moynihan was a New York State Police Officer with over 26 years of service. He was a Sgt. in the Organized Crime Task Force Serving as an Investigator; he was currently employed by Yonkers Raceway. Jack was a parishioner of Christ the King Church; and U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. A member of Veteran Post #1666, a member with the “Wildcats” and the Police Benevolent Association, and a member of the “140” Club. On February 13, 1960 he married Maryanne Conn in Sacred Heart Church; she survives living in Yonkers. He was also survived by his son John C. Moynihan Jr. of Yonkers and his granddaughter Brianna Moynihan. He was predeceased by his daughter Margaret “Peggy” Moynihan who died in 2003 and his brother Cornelius (Neal) Moynihan who died in 2001. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Timothy Moynihan, Brian Moynihan, Jane Piche, George Conn, John Conn and Maryanne D’Donato. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Monday December 28th at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the King Church in Jack’s memory.
