

John’s four children were all back in Yonkers to be with him during his final days.
John is survived by his wife, Joyce (Nimmo) and his children - Jeffrey (Mary) of Augusta, GA; Michael of Yonkers; Chris (Sandi) of St Paul, MN; and Ellen Holtman (John) of Rydal, GA; eight grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Martin and his sister-in-law, Mary Alice.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Paulitz); his sisters, Julia and Mary; his brothers, Larry, Frank, Joseph, and Albert.
John was a life-long resident of Yonkers. He graduated from Gorton High School, and Manhattan Technical Institute in New York City, where he studied Drafting.
In 1948, he was hired by Pepsi-Cola. Many of his years with Pepsi were spent designing bottling plants all over the world. He traveled extensively to Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, South America, Middle East and Asia.
In 1968, he was selected as the Project Manager for PepsiCo’s new World Headquarters in Purchase, NY, working with architect Edward Durrell Stone, whose office designed the new facility.
In July 1985, after 37 years of service, John retired from PepsiCo. At that time, he was the Director of Facilities Planning for PepsiCo, Inc.
John and Joyce were married for 71 years. Both John and Joyce were over 50 year members of the Amackassin Club. John was also past Treasurer and President of the Amackassin Club.
John was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Holy Name Society, and member of the Male Glee Club of Yonkers.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Lung Association. John had tuberculosis at an early age and was a lifelong contributor to this organization.
A Gathering and Celebration of Life will take place at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday August 18th 4-8pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday August 19th at 10am. Final disposition will be private.
