Joseph J. Burwell, resident of Tobyhanna, PA formerly of Yonkers died on Friday August 5, 2011 at the Hospice Community Care in Dunmore, PA. He was 54 years old. He was born on October 7, 1956 to Lenward and Thelma Brennan Burwell in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Burwell was a mechanic for the Handy Rental Company in White Plains until his illness. He enjoyed antique cars and was an avid Yankee fan. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen (nee Cunningham), three sons, Joseph Jr., Lenward and Anthony Burwell, two brothers, James H. and Lenward Snead and four sisters, Sylvia Gonzalez, Sandra Eaddy, Edith Edwards and Jacqueline Mitchell and her husband Ronell. He is also survived by his aunt Edith Graves and her husband Frank and his uncle Charles Brennan. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 to 12 PM. followed by the funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment Oakland Cemetery.
