She was born on March 23, 1943 to Frank N. and Mary Kachmar Werney in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Gorton High School. Miss Werney worked for twenty five years for NBC, RCA and General Electric in Manhattan. Most recently, she was a secretary for the Yonkers Police Department for ten years at Police Headquarters and the 2nd Precinct. She retired in 2008. Miss Werney was a volunteer at St. John’s Riverside Hospital for several years and was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. She is survived by her devoted sister, Jeanette Werney of Yonkers. She was predeceased by her parents. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 2-6pm. Panakhyda Service Thursday 5:30pm. Funeral Service will be held in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday August 23rd at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
