Marcella Gardenia Brown-Jackson, beloved mother, step-mother, grandmother, (Gianna expected arrival May 2022), daughter, and sister, departed this earth and peacefully entered into heavenly paradise on March 17, 2022.
Marcella was born in Yonkers, New York and was the fourth child to Barbara and Robert Brown. She was educated in Yonkers Public Schools and received a General Education Diploma.
Marcella used her intellect, linguistic skills, creativity, and magic to create poetry that inspired so many and touched everyone’s heart and soul. She truly had a way with words.
Marcella also had a way with people which drew her to work for Cluster and Jawanio; organizations that provide services to individuals with special needs. She had a natural way of comforting others, so working in Human Services was a perfect fit.
On March 15, 1979, Marcella gave birth to the love of her life, Latasha Shirelle. They had a bond that any mother and daughter would hope for. Marcella cherished her daughter more than anything in this physical world and was filled with joy as she anticipated the arrival of her granddaughter, Gianna Storm.
On December 13, 1991, she married Michael Jackson and they lived happily together until his untimely passing in September of 1995.
As God would have it, years later, another Michael would come into her life; Michael Mackey. She and Michael shared a loving and beautiful relationship that continued until she went home to be with the Lord.
Marcella loved her family to no end, and sadly, less than a week after her passing, she lost her beloved mom, Barbara. Today they are united together with the Heavenly Father.
Marcella is predeceased by the first love of her life, her dad, Robert L. Brown, her paternal grandparents, Edward Lee and Gardenia Brown, her maternal grandparents, Lucille and Robert Faulk. Marcella is survived by her daughter, Latasha, her stepchildren, Nichelle, Tori, and Trevor, her 7 brothers and sisters, LaMont, Eileen, Clayton, Alicia (nee Attanasio), Regina, Edward and Danita, God mother, Dolores Seay, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Marcella was affectionately known as Celery, Marce, Marcy and Tolla. She is beloved and will forever be missed, remembered and held closely in our hearts.
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday 3/26 from 12 to 4pm with a funeral service at 3pm. Final disposition is private.
