Mauro P. Capurso

He was born on August 27th, 1926 in Worcester, MA to Isabel and Pietro Capurso. At a younger age Pete lived in Little Italy NY prior to residing in Yonkers for over 75 years. Pete was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in Civil Engineering. Pete served in the US Army from 1944-1946.

On April 16th, 1955, Pete married Doris Flynn at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers. Pete was employed as an engineer for over 35 years by the City of NY Comptroller’s Office. Pete started long distance running at the age of 40 and completed twenty-six marathons and four 50-mile races. Pete enjoyed his wife and family most and was beloved by all.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris; six children, Peter (Maureen), Kathleen Muldoon (William), Thomas (Patricia), Robert, James (Lisa), and John (Diane); twelve grandchildren, Stephen, Franklin, Vincent, Joseph, Michelle, Megan, Timothy, Matthew, Adrianna, Autumn, Leo, and Lauren; and two great-grandchildren, Marcello and Layla; and many nieces and nephews. Pete was pre-deceased by his brother George, his sister Rose Johnson, and his grandson Cale.
