
Otello Pozzi, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Saturday July 30, 2016 at the Adira Nursing Home in Yonkers surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. Otello was born on March 25, 1927 in Livorno, Italy where he was raised and educated. He immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s. He married his loving wife Emma Imalaia and recently celebrated 54 years of marriage with her before she passed away on April 16, 2016. Mr. Pozzi was a construction worker through Local #208, the Hodcarrier’s Union. He was most proud to have worked on the construction of the White Plains Courthouse in the 1970’s. He was a proud member and participant of Yonkers Columbus Day Parade for over forty years where he made his noteworthy appearance by driving his classic bright red Cadillac. Otello is survived by four children, Albina Mascetta and her husband Bill of Yonkers, Mauro Pozzi and his wife Margerita of Australia, Maila Colombi and her husband Sauro of Livorno, Italy and Frank Pellegrino and his wife Marianne of New Jersey. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amanda, William, Anthony, Otello, Cristiano, Jennifer and Rafael and one great grandson, Jaydan. He was predeceased by a daughter, Maria Furfaro and a son in law, Dominic Furfaro. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Bartholomew’s Church on Tuesday August 2nd at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
