

Robert McInerney of Yonkers died on Saturday December 1, 2012 at the age of 74. He was born on July 23, 1938 to Daniel and Mary (Smith) McInerney in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Mr. McInerney worked as a New York City Police Officer for twenty years, stationed at Mid-Town North, retiring in 1983. He then worked in the security division for Yonkers Raceway for over twenty five years. He served his country as an Army Veteran being stationed in Germany. On October 31, 1992, he married Jane Hunt in Spring Lake, N.J. She survives. Bob was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a founding member of the 140 Club in Yonkers. He is survived by children Kevin (Jen) McInerney of Pleasantville, Lauren (Todd) Bailey of Vermont, Denise (Alex) Harris of Yonkers and Doreen (James) Campbell of the Bronx and three grandchildren, Aiden, Sean and Daniel. He is also survived by his sister Clare Holland of Utah and his sister-in-law Joan McInerney. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Marie Linehan and his brother Daniel McInerney. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday December 3rd at 9:30am. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. He was a tender man who was loyal to his family and friends. He touched and comforted many. He was a true gentleman.
