
Stephen Victor Slutak, 68 of Stuart, Fl., died Sunday after a short battle with cancer.He was born to the late Victor and Rose Slutak, April 6, 1945, in Yonkers, N.Y. Stephen graduated from Yonkers High School in 1963 and received a Bachelors of Art from St. John’s University in 1967.
Stephen worked for First Investors Corporation for thirty three years and retired in 2007. In 2012 he relocated to Stuart Florida where he spent his days playing golf and making new friends.
Stephen was a kind and gentle man, with a quick wit and big heart. He enjoyed Yankees baseball, watching sports, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He kept his mind sharp by reciting trivia facts and naming the presidents. His various stamp and coin collections brought him much joy. While living by the Jersey Shore, he enjoyed the novelties of the boardwalk, especially the crane games.Stephen is survived by his four beautiful daughters: Allyson Marie, of Concord, CA, Amy Elizabeth, of San Rafael, CA, Jennifer Lynne, of New York, N.Y., and Dr. Jill Slutak, of Pottstown, PA. He is also survived by his sister, Mary J. Slutak, of Sayre, PA, his brother, Dennis Slutak, of West Palm Beach, FL, as well as the mother of his children, Rosemarie Slutak, his aunt, Catherine Zaleski, cousins: Ronald Patrick, Joan Cahill, and Robert Laygoda, nieces, nephews, and his best canine friends, Willa and Bean Slutak. He is predeceased by his son, Stephen Douglas Slutak. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, February 7th at 9:30 a.m. Interment Holy Spirit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
