
Thomas M. Wangenstein, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday May 21, 2015 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 53 years old. He was born on April 17, 1962 to William A. and Helen “Honey” Fagan Wangenstein in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Saunders Trade & Technical School. Mr. Wangenstein was an assistant greenskeeper for the Westchester Department of Parks at the Dunwoodie Golf Course for twenty eight years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the North Yonkers Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Met and Giant football fan. His family said “he was never happy when the Mets lost”. On October 12, 1991, he married Donna Jackson in St. Anthony’s Church. Mrs. Wangenstein survives and lives in Point Pleasant, N.J. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jessica and Tommy Wangenstein, both of Point Pleasant, one sister, Nancy Sedlak and her husband Stephen of Yonkers and two brothers, William Wangenstein and his wife Debbie of Yonkers and Michael Wangenstein and his wife Maureen also of Yonkers. He is also survived by his close friend, Mark Drexler. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 5-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday May 23rd at 9:30am. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory.
