Al Jara was the personification of the American Dream. A first generation Mexican-American, he started working at a young age to help his family get by. He joined his mom picking fruit in the orange orchards of Fullerton, California. Al went to Anaheim H.S. graduating in 1953. He also attended Long Beach State. Al served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and had a long, successful career at Hughes Aircraft in the procurement department. While at Hughes, he met Rosalie (Sandy) Jara. They married in1960. Al and Sandy have 3 kids, Randy, Mike and Michelle. They also have 7 grandchildren. In 1972, they moved to Yorba Linda and still live in the same house where they raised the family.
Al was an exemplary Family man. He lead by example. His work ethic and strong family values inspired his children to go to college, work hard and raise children of their own. Al’s friends will say that he liked to have a good time. He had a smile that was contagious. For the last 20 years, Al and Sandy were members at Yorba Linda Country Club. While Sandy clearly enjoyed the golf, Al liked the social side of the club. They made life long friends there that will continue to support Sandy.
Al and Sandy loved to go to Hawaii for vacation. They loved to golf when they were on vacation as well as take walks on the beach and watch amazing sunsets.
After Al’s passing, the family has heard from so many old friends about what a positive influence he was on them. He will be remembered by so many as a friend, parent and most of all, a loving husband.
