Robert L. Hilbert, 84, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Providence Place.

He was the husband of the late Josephine M. (Gurreri) Hilbert. He was the companion of Erma J. Schaffner.

Robert was born on April 4, 1933 in York. Son of the late Chester and Lucy A. (Massman) Hilbert.

He retired from Harley Davidson Motor Co.. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the International Association of Aerospace Workers.

Robert "Bob" loved to keep busy. He enjoyed model railroads and railroads alike and shared his passion with his family at every opportunity. He enjoyed woodworking, tractors, gardening, traveling and visiting with his family. He loved the Lord. A humbler man would be difficult to find.

The viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 2114 W. Market St. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Robert is survived by a son, Robert L. Hilbert, Jr. of York. Two daughters, Melinda S. Dillon, and husband, Bruce J., of Dover, and Beth A. Hoskin, and husband, Michael, of York. Two stepdaughters, Yvonne M. (Hake) Garner of York, Lori Hake of York. A stepson, David Hake, companion of Sandra Green, of York. 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson. Two brothers, Donald Hilbert and Dean Hilbert, both of York.

He was preceded in death by a son, Glen Allen Hilbert; stepson, Steven A. Hake; a son-in-law, Jack Garner; and seven siblings, Paul Hilbert, Florence Keener, Clair Hilbert, Russell Hilbert, Raymond Hilbert, Dale Hilbert, and Leona Weaver. Memorial contributions may be made to
