Clifford Wayne Matthews passed away at West Valley Care on October 6, 2014 at the age of 90. Wayne was born December 18 1923. The first of five children, born to Clifford Jones Matthews and Melva Rene Player. Dad grew up on a farm in Bennion Utah. He learned to work the land and care for animals at a young age. He loved being outdoors and always thought of himself as a cowboy. (You could never pull him away from a good western or a Louis L’Amour) We fondly remember Bonanza every Sunday night. He was a proud Navy man. He served from August 12 1942, becoming an Aviation Ordinance Turret Man First class, and was discharged December 6 1945. He married Lorraine Alder February 12 1945. They raised 6 children: Steve (Colleen), Marlene (Billy), Karen (Brent), Doug (Sherrie), and Janice (Steve). He will be loving remembered by his children, 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Here are a few lines from a song that sums it up for us;
For all those time you stood by me,
For all the truth you made me see,
For all the joy you brought to my life,
For all the wrong that you made right,
For every dream you made come true,
For all the love I found in you…
I’m everything I am because you loved me.
Dad you are our hero.
