Born on September 16, 1949, Georgia lived a life rooted in love, faith, and resilience. She was married to her husband, Rudy Velasquez, with whom she shared many years.
Georgia was a proud and loving mother to her three children: James Adamec (his wife Robin preceded him in death in 2021) and his son Jeremy; Suzanne Barbalace (Adamec) and her husband Frank, along with their children Emily and Nathan; and her youngest daughter, Jessica Duggins (Adamec), her husband Anthony, and their children Nora and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lackey and Johnnie Ruth Nunley; her brother, Charlie Lackey; and her sister, Cindy Lackey. She is survived by her sisters, Merrie Lackey and Ruby Lackey Barnes, along with many extended family members who will cherish her memory.
Georgia dedicated many years of her career to the Village of Lake Zurich, where she was known for her hard work and commitment to her community. In 2002, she suffered a stroke that changed the course of her life, but her strength and spirit endured. She spent much of her later years in Glendale, Arizona, where she was cared for with compassion.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—music, books, animals, movies, and sharing meals with loved ones. She also had a strong interest in holistic health and natural medicine, and enjoyed refurbishing furniture. Her faith was an important part of her life, providing her with comfort and guidance.
Dianne will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her quiet strength, and the way she found beauty and meaning in everyday moments. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
