John Berry

John is survived by his loving wife Lois Caya, his step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his former wife Ruth Elliott of Chicago.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Salina Berry, his sister Elizabeth Reed, Niece Mona Keretses. John is also predeceased by his former wife of 27 years, Helen Vestal Berry of Marengo, IL.

John had a passion for education focusing mainly in Biology and Ecology. He spent 32 years as a college professor at Wright Jr. College in Chicago, IL. During his education he obtained several graduate degrees in environmental sciences and biology. John was the director of human ecology at U of I in Chicago. He was a park commissioner in Burr Ridge, IL for over 6 years. John devoted much of his time to environmental projects including coral reef research in Belize. John’s research on sharks and skates went on to be published. John also participated in several educational television programs as well as many other publications.

John will be missed by his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his contributions to environmental sciences.
