Karen Irene Thomas

Karen was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, but was born on April 4th, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio. Her parents Roger Vernon Berry and Vera A. Hicks moved to Arizona when she was a toddler, along with her brother Vernon Berry, then a few years later her sister, Pamela Berry, then quite a few years later her stepbrother came along, Charles Mason.

Karen graduated from Peoria High School in 1963 and then married her high school sweetheart, Clarence E. Thomas on June 21st, 1963. She was a very proud mother of Tammy S. Thomas, Kenny E. Thomas and Sherry A. Thomas. Karen was a very talented, creative woman and extremely outgoing. She was always happy, especially around family. She adored her 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandkids.

Karen was a hard-working woman, working a full-time job at Sperry Flight Systems and then it became Honeywell, she worked her way up from an assembler to Supervisor of Quality Control and a DMIR (Designated Mfg. Inspection rep.) for the FFA. She traveled to various locations within the USA and overseas to inspect airplanes. While still working a full-time job, she went back to school and got her Master’s Degree in business and still made time for her husband and 3 children. After 43 years she retired and pursued the life of retirement.

Karen was a very outgoing individual everywhere she went. Anyone who met her always fell in love with her, just by talking to her for 2 minutes or 2 hours, she loved helping and supporting anyone who needed or asked for it. She was also a great listener if anyone needed to talk about anything, it didn’t matter to her what the subject was, she was there to help. She was a people person. Karen was a great daughter, wife, mother, sister, Grandma, Great Grandma and friend. She is now at peace with no more pain or heart ache, Heaven has got one special angel in his hands now.

A Memorial Service for Karen will be held Friday, June 21st, 2024 at 12pm Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Golden Door, 11211 Michigan Ave, Youngtown, AZ 85363.
