Nicole Dossett was born on October 23, 1969 in Canoga Park, CA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education at Baptist Bible College in San Dimas, CA. She taught 5th grade for quite a few years at Joy Lutheran School in Peoria, AZ.
All during her elementary through high school years, she loved and played sports. Even though she was only 4’11” tall (her husband Billy liked to say 4’11” with a 7’ attitude) she excelled in all sports including volleyball. She received many certificates of excellence in all sports. Softball was her favorite. It was no wonder that she started a sports program called “Sports Kidz AZ”. The concept of the sports program originally was for home schooled kids and charter schools having after school daycare. Through this non-profit organization she found out that Phoenix has two schools for homeless kids and kids at risk. She had such a heart for these kids that they let them participate in the sports program gratis. Almost every summer she would take about 70 kids to Prescott Pines Christian Camp. She would pick them up in donated buses on their last day of school (pre-arranged by the principal of the school). She had many fund raisers to help pay for food, lodging, hygiene products and clothing. During the three days at the camp many fun activities were planned to entertain the kids.
There was an incidence when one of the counselors brought to Nicole’s attention that one of the boys had holes in his shoes. She immediately went to Walmart and bought him a new pair of shoes.
Not only did she meet their physical needs but also their spiritual needs. There would be many Christian counselors from Teen Challenge volunteering to share the gospel and show them the love of Jesus and give them hope for their future. It was at one of the summer camps that she met her husband, Billy Dossett. He was a leader at Teen Challenge at the New River center. Billy went on to become the director in Maui, HI. Once Billy was settled in Maui, he proposed to Nicole. They were married June 2, 2019. Their wedding had a beautiful Hawaiian theme. All the family were dressed in Hawaiian clothing as they are today.
She had over two fruitful years along side her husband ministering to men that were broken. They called her “Auntie”. To some she was the loving mother they never had.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Dossett, her parents Paul and Nina Montgomery, her two daughters Marissa Porter, Sara Cummins and her husband Jeremy Cummins, her son Benjamin Dossett and grandson Grayson Dossett, her step-mom Mary Cirricione, her five brothers, Seth Montgomery, Jason Montgomery and his wife Londa, David Cirricione and his wife Karen, Mike Cirricione and his wife Kristin, Brian Cirricione and his wife Emily. Nicole had two sisters Erin Montgomery and Shannon Peterson and her husband Tyler Peterson. She was greatly loved by her in laws Hugh and Theresa Dossett and her sister- in law Rosie Derryberry and husband Tom Derryberry, and last but not least her favorite uncle and aunt Scott and Elaine Montgomery.
Nicole touched thousands of lives with her beautiful spirit and love of Jesus. Her spirit will forever shine in all our hearts.
