Richard Delby Gruhn

Richard was born on August 20, 1936 in Lansing, Michigan. He moved to Arizona with his family in 1952 where he attended Phoenix Union High School. After graduation, he began his career with First National Bank in Phoenix. He then worked at branches in Bisbee, Sierra Vista and Green Valley. He ended his banking career at M&I Bank in Glendale and Sun City.

Richard spent much of his life serving the communities in which he lived. He was a member of the Lions Club and was an active participant in his churches. Most recently, at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Sun City, AZ, Richard was involved with making dinner every Wednesday night for the older members of the church, was on the finance and staff parish relations committee and a lay reader for the annual conference.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon, brother Jerry (Ronnie) of San Jose, CA, daughter Mary Beth (Norm) Cooper of Titonka, IA, sons Mark (Mary Barker) of Sierra Vista, Michael (Janet) of Austin, TX and Robert of Phoenix, AZ as well as five (5) grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, two great nephews and one great niece.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Lakeview United Methodist Church, Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeview UMC Foundation or any charity of your choice.Arrangements under the direction of Advantage Golden Door Chapel, Youngtown, AZ.
