Ruth Bell peacefully passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on the morning of March 26, 2022. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ruth was raised in Bellaire, Michigan, moving to Kalamazoo in 1962 after her high school graduation. She started at Western Michigan University, but when a job offer came from Michigan State Hospital, left school to pursue her career. She remained at the hospital until she retired in 1992.
In 1990, Ruth met and married Lowell Bell. After they both retired, they joined SOWERS, and traveled the states doing volunteer work at various locations. During this time, they decided to make Surprise, Arizona their new home, and set up their home in Happy Trails. They both became involved with Follow-Up Prison Ministry, and Ruth continued to volunteer for them both by visiting the prisons and doing office work after the death of Lowell in 2010. She moved into Chaparral Winds Independent living and remained there until her passing.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Viletta (Peggy) Greenman, and husband Lowell Bell. She is survived by sisters Barbara (Gilbert) Green, Janet (Robert) Ringel, Connie Townsend, brother James Greenman, Stepchildren Jerald (Jennifer) Bell, Lois (Jon) Surerus, Grandchildren Steven Surerus, Rachel Surerus, Daisy Bell, Donovhan Bell, Sofia Bell, and several nieces and nephews.
